Thessaloniki, Greece

My boyfriend, Tyler, came to visit me when I was living in Italy. His birthday fell during the first weekend when we were together, and I decided to give him the birthday gift of a trip to Greece!

My budget didn’t allow us to go to Athens, but we went to the next biggest city in Greece–Thessaloniki, which neither of us had ever heard of.

When I think of Greece, I think of mythology and temples and ancient ruins, but that’s not what all of Greece looks like. While I’d LOVE to go see the parthenon, it was awesome getting to see what actual residential parts of Greece look like.

He and I had so much fun trying new foods. In this picture, I tried eating School Shark. The night before, Tyler tried Octopus. It was on this trip where he discovered a love of cosmopolitans, and pasta with cuttlefish cooked in its own ink.

We got to take a boat tour of the coast. We timed it so that we’d get to watch the sunset.

And of course, when in Greece, throw up your sorority greek letters! Mine is an Xi, for Alpha Xi Delta!

It was incredible getting to visit Greece, and I’d love to go back and see Athens, and also the grecian islands!
