10 Daily Habits Everyone Should Have

Lately I've been thinking about my daily routine, and trying to think of new things I can implement into it. I realized that I already have a lot of good habits that I've developed over time, so I'm still searching for new things I can add, but for now, here is a list of 10… Continue reading 10 Daily Habits Everyone Should Have

Positive Self-Talk to Boost my Mood

Monte, (yes I'm addressing this to myself because this post is not about you all, it's about me) You're killing the game. It doesn't always feel like that because sometimes you feel like you could be doing more, and so you always look for other ways to fill your time, and then feel bad when… Continue reading Positive Self-Talk to Boost my Mood

Week 6 of Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines

Monday: Arms and Abs I have never sucked so badly at a workout. I got through maybe half of it, and then gave up. To be fair, I was really distracted from other things going on, and my heart and body weren't into it. So I ran a mile to finish off the workout and… Continue reading Week 6 of Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines

Week 5 of Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines

Monday: Legs and Cardio This workout went really well! I'm starting a new set of weeks, so I had not yet done this workout. My usual 10 burpees was bumped up to 15 burpees, and I must say, it's tough!! I'm really proud of myself though, because I know those will be easy for me… Continue reading Week 5 of Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines

3 months of making art every day: 12 thoughts!

My super cool, artsy mother has been creating art every day of 2018, and here are her 12 thoughts ❤

ph.d. in creative writing

I have made ART–a painting or drawing–every day of 2018, and after three straight months of this, I have some thoughts. Here they are in the order in which I think them:

Thought 1: It’s possible! I believed I could do it, but I didn’t know what it would be like day-in and day-out. It’s a commitment, but it’s doable. I’m not sure I could have done it during other periods of my life (pre-tenure, pre-kid-in-college), but whatever, I’m doing it now.

Thought 2: It’s working! My goal for 2018 is to make “50 pounds of art” (metaphorically) (literally: to make art every day), which I explain here, and which basically means that I will paint or draw something every day, and that I will learn through the process of making and trying and failing and failing better (#beckett). After three months of daily art-making, daily thinking about art…

Goals For April

I feel like I finally have time and brain energy to do things I am passionate about. January through March was absolutely ridiculous, I was stressed constantly--I came back from my semester abroad, had to settle back in to American culture started school again and immediately became president of my a cappella group. I then… Continue reading Goals For April

Using Pinterest to Decorate

My wall needed a little sprucing up, because it was absolutely bare for about 2 months and I needed to renovate my life. Nothing renovates your life like taping some pictures up to your wall. Check it out! I literally adore the aesthetic, I have little lights underneath them, so when I'm tucking myself into… Continue reading Using Pinterest to Decorate

My Thoughts About Social Media

So here we go. I think that if you are in a place where you need to police your significant other's… Continue reading My Thoughts About Social Media

Week 4 of Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines

Monday: Legs and Cardio I'm becoming a well-oiled machine. Sort of. Nothing grinds my gears more than walking lunges and step-ups, and I had to do plenty of those. Two thoughts: 1, I'm improving! 2, I'm learning how to cheat the system, and I don't go as low as I should on my lunges, and… Continue reading Week 4 of Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines
